June 2004
Dear
friends,
We are proposing to hold a "Crime Prevention Fortnight"
in the District as a part of the state wide campaign directed by
the Director General of Police, Kerala.
As a part of the campaign we propose to catch hold of criminals
who have been evading arrest, carry out preventive measures to bring
down incidents of thefts, L & O incidents etc. We also would
be conducting seminars on crime prevention all over the District
at Police Station level.
I request all the citizens of this district to cooperate with us
in this endeavour aimed at providing a trouble free crime free life
to the people of this district. I am fine that you all who have
been cooperating with us in all our people friendly. Crime prevention
efforts will welcome this more also from our part with open hearts.
I also invite suggestions from you regarding things that can be
done as a part of this campaign from 15.06.04 to 30.06.04. Your
suggestions are welcome regarding methods of preventing suicides
of all kinds.
I would like to caution everyone that the monsoon season has get
in and with the cold and other conducive atmosphere inviting good
sleep, this is the season of thieves. Please be aware and take precautions
we already advocated. On our part we are intensifying night patrols
and also increasing our efforts at crime prevention " The Crime
Prevention Fortnight" being a major step in this direction.
Thanking you,
G. Janardhanan Nair IPS |

Dear
friends,
Thank you all for the co-operation you have extended to me throughout
my tenure here. It has been a pleasure working here in spite the
amount of work that had to be attended to and the problem that had
to be faced. All this was possible only because of the co-operation
of the common citizens of this district.
Now I have completed 750 days here. When I look back I feel that
I have managed to sustain my efforts only due to the unstinted support
I received from the common man in spite of my human frailties.
Now we are entering an important facet of the Community Policing
programme started by us. We are about to commence interactive meetings
with the community at lower levels i.e., at Gram Panchayath level
involving policemen at the police station level. You should be aware
that the main delivery point of the police services is the police
stations. Therefore it has an important role to place in the community
policing effort actually is delivery of police service in a more
congenial atmosphere. I sincerely hope that our lower ranks will
also rise to the occasion and come forward to interact with the
public freely. Thus they will be able hear and understand what the
receivers of the police services have to say about the police services
and modify themselves accordingly. I am sure that this will improve
police ser vices considerably and this accountability attempt will
deliver favorable results.
The schools are opening on June 2nd. The usual transportation problems
will be there. We would do our maximum to patrol the main bus stands
and bus stops to ensure the school going children are not put to
any unnecessary harassment. Stationary police presence will also
be ensured at the bus stands, bus stops to help the children, teachers
etc. Feel free to call me if there is any complaint.
Some persons have stated that nothing is heard about our painting
competition. We have received a large number of entries and we will
be handing over the prizes to the winners at the next public function.
Those who are sure of prize, these who feel that they have done
well please wait a little more time. Bear with us please.
Wish you all children a happy and bright school year 2004-2005.
Thanking you,
G. Janardhanan Nair IPS |
