Dear friend,

I wish all of our visitors Ed-ul-Fitr greetings. This holy festival is celebrated by worldwide Muslims after their thirty days long systematic life and prayers.

As a part of strengthening the police-public relationship, next week we are attending another general meeting at Thriprayar. Prominent citizens from Nattika and Cherpu will also attend the meeting. I believe that such meetings will be helpful to the people.

In order to make acquainted with traffic laws, The Lions Club together with our Department is arranging the distribution of handbooks related to traffic and first aid kit to the public for free. The function will be held today.

I am glad to announce that the feedback that we are receiving daily shows that newly launched ‘Sabarimala Special’ is widely appreciated by the people inside and outside Kerala.

Dear friend,

This week a general meeting was held in Chavakkad comprising of the officials from the police department, the political leaders, journalists, concerned representatives of the social welfare organizations and the public to discuss about the present scenario that is developed all over the State and to get the feedback directly from the them. I am glad to announce that the discussion is found to be very effective and many important points have been put forward. One of the reasons that we found that develop such situation is the anti-social group, who patronize such situations. Our department is always ready to participate in such active discussions in the district that will benefit the public to clarify their doubts, expressing their suggestions and thus will bridge the communication gap between the policemen and the public. I take your attention towards these anti-social groups and the public should be vigilant on such situation. Please keep us informed about such activities so that the police can act without deferment.

All of you know that we have started a new section called “Sabarimala Special” for the benefit of the pilgrims to Sabarimala via Thrissur. Our districts being the cultural capital of Kerala have arranged necessary facilities to welcome them. We have arranged six 24 hrs aid-posts in Guruvayoor for the benefit of the pilgrims. I believe that the route maps and other details available in the website will help make the journey more comfortable.

The ‘hartal’ on Dec 6th was found to be peaceful in the District and the department was alert on the situation.

With best wishes

Dear friend,

For the past two weeks we were unable to update this section due to some unavoidable reasons. So please bear with us and continue watching this section.

I am happy to announce that from Monday, 03 December 2001 onwards we are starting a new section for Sabarimala season. I believe that this section will be helpful for the pilgrims to Sabarimala who passes through our district. With the help of this section the devotees can make use of the facilities available in the five main temples of the district viz, Guruvayoor Sree Krishna Temple, Thrissur Vadakkumnathan Temple, Irijalakuda Koodalmanikyam Temple, Thriprayar Sree Ramaswamy Temple and Kodunagalloor Sree Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple. This section will include the Pooja timings, pricelist for prasadham offerings, route maps and the telephone numbers of the Devaswom offices, Police Stations etc-. Our officers are always ready to help them at any point of their journey.

Dear friend,

Greetings once again to each one of you. As I mentioned last week, Kerala is preparing for its annual influx of Sabarimala pilgrims and all police personnel as well as other authorities have been asked to be prepared for the festival season. This year, several arrangements have been made as part of our arrangements and one of these has been the addition of a special section on Sabarimala on this website, which will carry brief details about the important temples and religious places on the route of the pilgrim. This section is nearing completion and will be seen on this website from the First of Vrishchika (the date on which Mandala season begins), i.e. 16th of November 2001. I hope you will visit this section and send in your messages as to the utility and accuracy of the information given herein.

The national festival of Deepavali falls on the 14th of this month, and I am sure all of you are preparing for the celebrations and family gatherings that accompany the festival each year. Let us all take a few minutes to express our deepest sympathies with the members of the family in Trivandrum for the loss of lives suffered during a family gathering, when a landslide struck the house where they were gathered, in connection with a wedding in the family. I am sure each one of us is deeply moved by the tragedy and our prayers are with the grieving members of the family.

We shall soon be adding a special section where the Deputy Superintendents of your district will be sharing their views and experiences with you through this website. I hope all of you will take the opportunity thus offered to communicate with these officials, just as you have been responding to my views expressed through the site.

With best wishes

Dear friend,

Kerala, the land of festivals, is entering the festival season, and all of Kerala is gearing up to receive the visitors from all over the country, and from overseas. As you know, this month, the Sabarimala season will commence, from the 16th of November onwards. This two-month long season annually witnesses the influx of millions of religious visitors, making their annual pilgrimage to the holy sannidhanam of Lord Ayyappa. Many of these pilgrims will also be visiting the famous Guruvayoorappan temple, as also the Vadakunnathan temple, the Koodalmanikyam temple and the Kodungalloor temple. I feel it is necessary for all of us to be aware that during this period, the number of vehicles on the road tends to increase enormously, and therefore, there is a need to exercise greater caution while driving on the roads. I request each one of you to be careful while driving at night, especially on the main roads.

As part of the on-going activities of thrissurpolice.com, we shall be adding a special section on the important temples mentioned above. The information to be made available includes the road routes, temple timings, special arrangements for Sabarimala pilgrims and relevant telephone numbers, in case of emergencies or assistance. I request all the citizens of Thrissur to cooperate with the authorities in making the visitors welcome to our district, and to extend assistance to them as required. Remember the saying: “Athithi Devo Bhava - the guest is God”. This will highly enhance our image as the residents of the “Cultural Capital of Kerala”

As a part of observing October as traffic month, we conducted a three days free eye camp with active support of Lions Club, Bus operators, District Hospital Doctors. More than two thousand seven hundred people had been checked their eyes including the drivers. 100 eye operations were done at Aravind Clinic, Coimbatore, 502 spectacles have been distributed for free of cost. I thank all who made this camp a great success

Finally I would like to remind you to keep on sending me messages using the feedback facility on the site. I especially look forward to receiving suggestions and opinions of students and senior citizens. Please feel free to approach me if you have any doubts or queries.
Thank you very much

With best wishes,
Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

Dear friend,

Thrissurpolice.com has completed five months of operation, and it has been my experience during this period that the project has been exceedingly well received by the concerned citizens of Thrissur, resident in Kerala as well as abroad. Indeed, just yesterday, I received a message from a ‘Thrissur-ite’ based in the United States of America, who writes that he is extremely glad to see the effort that has gone into this website project. He states further that he would like us to ensure that the standard of the work is maintained even in the future, so that the citizens of Thrissur may enjoy the benefits of this project in future also. I welcome the views expressed by this concerned citizen of Thrissur, who continues to follow developments in his hometown, although he finds himself thousands of miles away in a different country. I invite all of you who have similar views on the subject to correspond with me through the website itself. It shall be my earnest effort to see that the work so far done continues at least at the same level, if not better. We shall be developing even more features over the next few weeks. Please keep yourself posted on these developments.

The traffic problems of the district have been discussed widely in the press as well as through the website, these last few weeks. I have received several articles dealing with the subject from visitors to the site, and some of the more interesting ones can be viewed on the Bulletin Boards section of this website. Please do go through the same and respond to the views expressed therein. I shall be only too glad to hear your views on the matter, one that concerns each one of us.

This week, the department was able to arrest the culprits in a murder in which the victim’s body was torched subsequently. The incident took place near Irinjalakuda. The police force led by Hentry Johnson, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Irinjalakuda, ably assisted by the Circle Inspector, N. Krishnankutty Pillai carried out the successful investigation. My congratulations to all the police officers concerned.

One of the important festivals of India is Dussehra (or Navarathri), which is being celebrated all over the country this week. My best wishes to all of you for a safe and enjoyable festival season, and especially to my student friends, who will be enjoying a respite from their studies.

Season’s greetings and best wishes,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

Dear friend,

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestion that you are giving through this website. We are giving necessary importance to all of your feedback and complaints and doing our best to seeing it solved.

This week went with a series of issues in the city. The timely and appropriate steps taken by the bank employees and public foiled the attempt of a bank robbery in the City. The situation was arised when the culprit arrived the Kuruppam road branch of State Bank of Travancore wearing a mask holding a revolver at around 12pm. But, the attempt was foiled by the employees and helped the police in arresting the culprit. I’m happy to congratulate the employees as well as the public for their bravery. (click here for more details)

We were able be arrest a quack doctor who was working with a private hospital in the city as a Paediatrician. He posses fake M.B.B.S degree and investigation reveals that he already worked in many private hospitals throughout the State from 1974 including some famous hospitals in Thrissur. So, I expect everyone has to be alert on such situations and help us to take necessary steps by informing if you experience any problems. (click here for more details)

I would like to remind you that take necessary attention to lock all the doors with standard locks while leaving your house. Please report to us as soon as possible if theft is occurred. (click here to read the precautions)

From the articles received from you, the department is studying the traffic problems and suggested improvements in the District. As part of implementation we are going to conduct eye-camps for the drivers soon, given order to take necessary action against over-speeding of the private buses and will mark the divider-line in the traffic junctions and bus stops.

With best wishes,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

Dear friend,

Thank you very much for your valuable suggestions and informations that you are sending us through our website thrissurpolice.com. As all of you know, the main intention of this website is to create a communication platform for the people to interact directly with the higher officials of Police Department and can share their experiences wit us. We plan to introduce novel things to make our website more user-friendly and interactive. If you have any suggestions please send to us at the earliest. You can wait for some changes in design and in presentation by the end of this month. We expect your support in the future also.

One important thing that I would like to take your attention is the traffic problems caused in M.G.Road, M.O. Road and in other main roads in the City. The main reason is found to be the processions and other activities lead by different Associations and Unions. But it is difficult for our Department to take a common decision to stop such activities. So, I expect journalists, politicians, social welfare groups, public and other associations to discuss these matters in the appropriate forums and take a concordant action in avoiding such activities that makes normal life more painful. I am happy to extend our support for any activity that will lead to build a better society.

Another main reason for the traffic problem is the obstructions caused by various departments while at work. The gutter made by these departments is a main cause for many accidents. So, I expect the cooperation of these departments in taking necessary steps to avoid such activities that cause such traffic problems and accidents in the District. If you have any such traffic problems, please let me know. Once again I repeat that your cooperation is our success. I wish you all the best.

With regards,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

Dear friend,

Thrissur police observed this month as a traffic-studying month. It is needless to say that the public have a great role in helping the police to maintain the traffic rules. I’m happy that, we received around fifty articles from the public inside and outside Thrissur expressing their views on traffic issues in the city and district. These articles will be soon discussed with the senior officials and in respective forums to improve the present traffic scenario.

Let me remind you once again, the school and college students are the backbone of our society. It is necessary to have healthy minded youths to build a better society and parents have an important role to guide them to light. Our department is planning to have a weekly chatting program with selected students from a school and we believe that this will help them to discuss their problems with the higher officials of the department.

The police last week arrested one among the group who involved in a five year old robbery case of The Martha Mariyam Church and recovered some stolen materials from him. The case is investigating under DySP P.N. Unnirajan assisted by Circle Inspector M.J. Mathew and Sub-Inspector Sasidharan.

The following are the details of actions taken against some complaints:

We are getting complaints against auto-drivers who hesitate to go to Ayyanthole side from the Town and over charge if they come. Traffic SI inquired the complaint and taken necessary actions to avoid such situation.

Complaints against odd behavior of bus operators towards the students is another issue. It is found that some bus operators hesitate to take students. Mobile patrolling is enhanced during the peak hours and police is always ready to help them.

We receive many complaints against the pathetic condition of roads in the city. We will discuss these matters with the respective departments and will take necessary steps.

Please send in your views and suggestions to us on any issue.

With regards,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

22 September 2001

Dear friend,

Welcome once again to thrissurpolice.com and thank you very much for your interest in this website. It is needless to say that every individual have his or her commitments towards the betterments of the society they are belonging to. I believe that, the peaceful atmosphere that our society is enjoying now is the result of such cooperation. The distance between police and public is found to be reducing and I personally experience it within my hundred days of service as the District SP of Thrissur. The prompt and competent responses in the form of feedbacks and suggestions that I’m receiving daily from the public are an example for that. I’m happy that, this website served as a platform for strengthening the communication network among the police department and the public not only from Thrissur but from the rest of the world too.

One point that I would like to take your attention is, it is found that people are sending more and more feedbacks in the form of suggestions on any issue when compared to the number of complaints received and I heartily welcome it as a movement for a healthy society.

I would like to remind you that, according to a judgement by the Hon. High Court it is against the law that leading the processions that upset the normal life. But, according to few complaints received it is found that some people are intentionally neglecting such rules and makes normal lives more painful. The activities that destroy social security cannot be entertained. I expect all of you especially youths will reflect my opinion and will come forward with your views in a discussion. You can send in your views and suggestions through this website.

I extend my best wishes on behalf of Thrissur Police and self.

With regards,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

Dear friend,

Thrissur Police observes September as a traffic-studying month and we received a lot of suggestions and views on the “Traffic Conditions in Thrissur City-and suggested improvements” and "Traffic problems in the District". Most of the responses explained with a detailed layout of “Swaraj Round”. I heartily appreciate your wholehearted support to such welfare matters. I promise you that the department will consider your valuable suggestions and views to reduce the traffic problems in the city as well as in the district. These suggestions and views will be discussed with senior officials of the department and related forums to improve the existing traffic situation. As an initial step to reduce accidents due to over speed and traffic bottleneck, I have given the order to the respective officers to take strict action to those who violate the rules.

I’m happy to announce that Thrissur Police together with OrgPEOPLE is conducting an essay competition on “How the public can help the police to reduce crimes”. This competition is for the High School and College students, and the outstanding articles will award with prizes and will be posted in the bulletin board of this site with photograph. The details of this competition will be publishing through all the media soon.

The bulletin board of Thrissurpolice.com, the official website of Thrissur District Police is the platform for the people from all over the world to express their valuable suggestions and views to us. I suggest that please elaborate your articles instead of limiting it in a few lines.

Let me once again assure you that all complaints received are being recorded and immediate action is being taken as required. Also, there seems to be a feeling that confidentiality may be lost when one communicates with me using the website. This is not true, and strict confidentiality is being ensured regarding all complaints received.

With regards,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

Dear friend,

I hope each of you had a very happy Onam this year.

Last month, the police in the district were very busy trying to control the flow of illicit liquor into the district, as also in preventing “goonda” activities in the district. I am happy to inform you that as a consequence of the drive against anti-social activities being conducted by the police throughout the district, we were able to reduce significantly the occurrence of such incidents to a great extent. The police conducted 1383 raids against illicit liquor breweries. A total of 12670 liters of wash, 209 liters of arrack and 242 liters of foreign liquor were seized. 5046 traffic cases were also registered during this period, including 194 incidents of drunken driving and 45 cases of reckless driving.. 1398 cases were registered against persons indulging in eve teasing as well as harassment of women in public.

In two separate raids conducted by the police on instructions from the DIG Sri Sankar Reddy, explosive materials were seized consisting of 1165 kg of potassium nitrate, 284 kg of sulphur, 48 kg gunpowder, 17 gelatin sticks, 1000 detonators, 76 caps etc. Three persons were also arrested in this connection.

It is my firm belief that all the above successful activities of the Thrissur police was entirely due to the sincere participation of all policemen in the district. Also, information received from concerned citizens was instrumental in bringing some of these incidents to light. I extend my warm felicitations to all of these enlightened individuals who helped us do our duty. I hope more and more members of society will emulate your example.

Some of you may have noticed that we have set up bulletin boards that are intended to serve as a discussion forum on specific topics of current interest. Separate bulletin boards have been set up for senior citizens, students, women and so on. I invite each one of you to take advantage of this facility to air your views on the topics under discussion. The articles received can be viewed by everyone on the respective bulletin boards on the website. This week, I would like to hear from you your views on “Traffic Conditions in Thrissur City-and suggested improvements”. Your personal experiences could also be shared with us by way of the bulletin boards.

With regards,
Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

01 Sept 2001

Dear friend,

I wish you a very happy and prosperous New Year, the Onam.

The Police department is always alert to control the flow of illicit liquor in the District. This week the police force headed by the Kunnamkulam DySP Mr. Shashikumar seized 1000 liters of liquor from Peramangalam, which was being illegally transported from Karnataka to a neighbouring district. The liquor was kept in a concealed tank attached to the floor of a tempo van. The investigation was extended to the neighbouring district.

The next "Petition Adalat" will be held at Chavakkad on 12th September 2001. I invite anyone of you that has a grievance or problem to approach me through this website, or by sending me your petition by post. I shall look into the matter on a priority basis.

I am happy to announce that this website had been officially commissioned by the Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala at a function on Sunday, 26 August 2001. We launched a set of bulletin boards that are intended to serve as a discussion forum on specific topics of current interest. Separate bulletin boards have been set up for senior citizens, students, women and so on. I invite each one of you to take advantage of this facility to air your views on the topics under discussion. The articles received can be viewed by everyone on the respective bulletin boards on the website.

As each one of you know, the Thrissur is famous for "Pulikali" during Onam season. This year it falls on Monday 3rd September 2001 and there will be some traffic regulations on the Swaraj Round in the afternoon.

With regards,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS .

25 Aug 2001

Dear friend,

Happy Onam and season’s greetings to each one of you.

This week, Thrissur district witnessed hectic police activity in destroying spurious liquor. However, we were able to successfully curtail such anti-social activities to a large extent, thanks to the cooperation of the watchful citizens of Thrissur. I welcome all such assistance to the police force in the interests of a trouble-free society and I thank all of you for your aid.

I held a "Petition Adalat" at Mukundapuram on 22 Aug 2001, at which over forty petitions received directly by me were disposed of. I am happy to share with you the information that more than 80% of the petitions were settled on the spot. The response to these "adalats" from the public is quite encouraging, and I hope that this innovation would motivate more and more people to participate in the settling of disputes locally, in their own interests. The next “Petition Adalat” will be held at Chavakkad on 13th September 2001. I invite anyone of you that has a grievance or problem to approach me through this website, or by sending me your petition by post. I shall look into the matter on a priority basis. (click here for details).

The police were able to seize explosives from several points in the district, such as Athani, Kodali, and Ponganamkadu, based on information received by the DIG of Police Sri Sankar Reddy. The raids were supervised by myself and I am happy to report that they were quite successful. Several police officials ably assisted me in this task.

I am happy to announce that this website has been appreciated by the Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala himself, and that he has agreed to officially commission the site at a function on Sunday, 26 August 2001. As you know, the CM is very interested in IT-related activities, and his interest in our website is quite heartening. Also, this week, we are launching a set of bulletin boards that are intended to serve as a discussion forum on specific topics of current interest. Separate bulletin boards have been set up for senior citizens, students, women and so on. I invite each one of you to take advantage of this facility to air your views on the topics under discussion. The articles received can be viewed by everyone on the respective bulletin boards on the website.

One final point: we are in all to sweep out gunda activities in the district. I have instructed my subordinate officers to keep a vigilant eye at sensitive points. We already introduced five-check point such as Vettilappara, Pattikad, Perumbilavu, Cheruthuruthy and Kottappuram (Kodungalloor) in order to keep a check on illicit arrack and wash that is flowing in and out of the District. I also request alert citizens to send me information quickly as soon as trouble of any sort develops.

With all best wishes for the arrival of Mahabali, the special visitor in all our houses at Onam, I am

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

18 Aug 2001

Dear friend,

Welcome once again to thrissurpolice.com. Thank you for your co-operation. Our intention is to send replies to all those who send us suggestions, feedbacks and complaints. Please excuse us if you are not received one yet, but as I mentioned earlier we are giving necessary importance to all the mails that we are receiving.

Kerala is famous for it’s festivals through out the year especially Thrissur, the cultural capital of the State. I personally feel that the people here are more sensitive towards these festivals. Now, we are making ourself ready to welcome the most popular festival of Kerala, The Onam. But on the other hand, during these festival seasons a lot of illicit liquor is flowing in the District. Last week the police raided ten bars in the City to prevent the sale of illicit liquor during Onam season. In a raid that we conducted on August 14th, we were able to catch seventy bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from Mala and seven hundred bottles of seconds liquor from Irinjalakuda. In another raid conducted through out the District the police arrested thirty-five persons and registered thirty-eight cases. Five hundred liters of arrack, eighty liters of IMFL and one thousand liters of wash were destroyed. I would like to remind you that, if you have any information about the illegal transportation or trading or any such business please contact me at the earliest.

Let me remind you that it is the aim of this website, to reduce the communication gap between the department and the public. I feel that the young generation has to be more interactive with us, mainly school and college students. The backbone of our society is dedicated youths. This website is a platform for them to clarify their doubts by interacting with police officials and will help you to move forward to build a better society. We invite your articles on any issue through this website and happy to announce that to give special attention we are introducing a new section for students. The interesting articles will be published on the bulletin board.

We are conducting a “Petition Adalat” for Mukundapuram Taluk on August 22, 2001. So, please send in your petitions to the District SP by Post or in person or through this website at the earliest. The information regarding this “adalat” will be available either through the Newspapers or through this site (click here for details).

Please continue sending me your comments and views regarding matters relevant to our objectives.

Regards,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS .

11 Aug 2001

Dear friend,

I am glad to inform you that thrissurpolice.com your personal hotline to the police organization has now been in existence for three months. In this period, we have had nearly one and a half lakh visitors to this site, making it easily the most popular police website ever. I have been receiving messages from all over the world, from the Gulf countries as well as from the rest of India. It makes me glad to know that we of the Thrissur police have been able to successfully implement a project that is clearly useful to many of you. This gives us the confidence that the additions that we have incorporated into the website would make it even more interesting and useful.

This week we conducted a “Petition Adalat” in Thrissur west police station for the people who belong to Thrissur Taluk. The main intention of such programs is to solve the petitions “Taluk-wise” that already submitted to SP, in the presence of both petitioner and counter petitioner. We were able to solve around thirty-five petitions out of fifty. Next, we are doing it for Mukundapuram Taluk on August 22, 2001. So, please send in your petitions to the SP by Post or in person at the earliest. The information regarding this program will be available either through the Newspapers or through this site soon.

The additions we have contemplated are the following: From next week onwards, we shall be including several discussion forums in the form of bulletin boards, wherein each of you can send in your views regarding specific issues of interest to you and the police. There will be special categories for senior citizens, women, students, and the general public. What is more, we are also putting in a bulletin board for policemen, past and present, to air their views and express themselves on the topics of discussion. Please do make use of these facilities to communicate with me. Articles sent to me using the facility can be viewed by visiting the “Bulletin Board” section on the site.

There are some misconceptions regarding the website that I wish to clear with you. Let me assure you that all complaints received are being recorded and immediate action is being taken as required. Also, there seems to be a feeling that confidentiality may be lost when one communicates with me using the website. This is not true, and strict confidentiality is being ensured regarding all complaints received. What is more, there seems to be an increased awareness among the public about the possibilities of IT in addressing a widely felt need in terms of e-governance. I am glad that we at the Thrissur police have been able to stay in touch with our citizens’ aspirations and keep up with the latest developments in communication technology. Your responses and feedback are ample evidence of this.

I would like to take your attention towards the illegal transportation of spirit, liquor etc. through the District especially during the festival seasons. If you have any information about such illegal transportation or trading or any such business please contact me as the earliest in the following telephone numbers.

+ 91 - 487 - 361000 - SP Office, Thrissur.

+ 91 - 487 - 361600 – SP’s residence.

or fax + 91 - 487 - 361000

Please continue sending me your comments and views regarding matters relevant to our objectives.

Regards,

Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS.

Dear Friend,

Welcome back! I am glad to inform you all that we have had over one lakh and forty thousand visitors to the site this last week. The website project has been generally well received by Internet visitors, and this gives me a lot of confidence for the future.

The Thrissur District Police will observe August as a month for launching an intensive drive against anti-social elements indulging in various activities like trading illicit liquor and ganja, drinking on public roads, causing nuisance to people and eve-teasing. Special teams under Sub-Inspectors will conduct patrols at various points, viz bus stands, railway stations, school and college junctions, market areas. Those found to be indulging in anti-social activities will be produced before the magistrate after arrest and may not be released from police stations. Dear friend,

Once again welcome to thrissurpolice.com. I’m very glad to inform you that our website was visited by more than one lakh netizens. Your suggestions and information are treated with atmost care and importance. Within our time limit we are trying to reply to all those who have written to us, so please try to furnish your correct details for further reference.

We conducted a “Combing Operation” under Kunnamkulam Sub Division on 4th July and were able to trace many petty cases, which include nearly hundred motor vehicle petty cases, and five drunken drive cases. It also included a surprise visit to the houses of ex-convicted persons. This "Combing Operation" is found to be effective and the department is planning to conduct similar type of operations in different part of the District in the immediate future.

The department is taking necessary action against the complaints registered through our website. On behalf of the complaints registered against immoral trafficking, our department arrested eight women from K.S.R.T.C. Bus Stand this week. Necessary action has been taken in another complaint registered against the parking of vehicles at the entrance of Santhosh Nagar road area near to Mannuthy bye-pass junction.

In another Vehicle-lifting case the Police nabbed a motor vehicle lifter gang at Mathilakam, while trying to steal the car after pushing the driver out of the car with the help of another four persons who came in another jeep.

There are hundreds of road accidents in our District in a month and the statistics shows that most of the accidents are due to the driving after consumption of alcohol. In spite of several warnings, it is noticed that the attitude of some of the drivers towards this aspect has not changed. Remember, it’s an Offense of Law and we will take strict action against them, who violates the law.

Dear friend,

Welcome once again to thrissurpolice.com. I'm very glad to inform you that our website is well received by the people inside and outside India. Around Seventy four thousand people already visited our website in just 48 days. Thanks for these responses from you, that make us more responsible towards our duty. Such communications help us to solve many serious issues. I repeat that all the complaints and feedbacks will be handled with at most care and significance and we are taking actions against the complaints as earliest as possible. Please make sure that you correctly furnish your details while sending complaints to us.

As a continuation of the investigation of case against vehicle robbery racket, we could arrest two men from Madurai, who were identified as members of this racket. Police department is deeply concerned about the Increasing traffic accidents in city and other parts of the district. We are working out some plans on this issue for minimizing such terrible mishaps. It is not possible to prevent such mishaps unless and until participation and co-operation of public is there. Public should strictly abide with traffic rules and also make complete utilization of the footpath while walking. Any suggestion from public regarding this issue is most welcome.

Then I would like to take your attention towards another serious issue. It is nice to know that there are a lot of Cyber Cafés in the City. But, some of them are involved in anti-social activities like exhibiting porn movies. We conducted raid at some Cyber Cafes, who involved in such activities and seized their computers. We warn that, such anti-social activities will be strictly dealt with. I invite the participation of public in filtering out such anti-social elements from the society by intimating us in time about them. Our request to parents, teachers and social workers is to give proper guidance and create awareness among the new generation on this regard. As the society is getting aware of Internet, the possibility of getting trapped is more.

At this point of time we have to remember that this millennium faced victims of fake ‘blade-financing’ companies of eighties and ‘Teak, Manchiyum, Goat’ scams of nineties. I fear that this era will face different versions of such cyber related crimes and both of us have to be alert on this issue. So my premonition to those, especially to the NRIs, who invest their life-long earnings, is that make thorough enquiry before involving in such businesses.

With best wishes

Balram Kumar Upadhyay IPS.

Dear Friend,

Welcome once again to thrissurpolice.com, the e-venture from the Thrissur police department. I am happy to be able to share with you my experiences over the past five months, the period during which I held charge as your Superintendent of Police.

These last five months, the Thrissur police department has been able to solve as many as 19 of the 20 murders that occurred in the district. Special credit is due to my team which was able to successfully solve the Kuthiran murder case, although the actual murder took place in Alwaye, in Ernakulam District.

Last month, we were able to successfully and peacefully complete the elections to the Kerala Legislative Assembly, thanks to the cooperation and support of the public. Also, the most exciting festival in Kerala, the Thrissur Pooram, which attracts visitors from all over the world was also conducted smoothly, without any untoward incident. I extend my appreciation to all of you, on behalf of my colleagues and associates at the Police department.

I have always believed that professionalism and proper training with modern methods would immensely improve the working as well as the image of the Police. To that end, I was happy to be part of several schemes involving the public of Thrissur, such as the "Clean and Green", "Police Help-lines" and "Vidyarthi Snehi". I hope that all these activities would continue with the same impetus under my successor as well.

To end, permit me to extend my warmest regards to all of you that were instrumental in making these activities a success. I hope and pray that we will be able to work together in the future as well.

With best wishes from my team,

Y. Anilkumar IPS

Dear Friend,

Welcome back! This last week has been quite eventful as far as the website is concerned. I am glad to inform you all that we have had over 10000 visitors to the site this last week, from as far away as the Arabian Gulf states and even the United States of America. The website project has been generally well received by Internet visitors, and this gives us a lot of confidence for the future. Overall, I feel that people are ready to make use of this new technology to communicate with us, and the responses I have received so far tend to bear me out. I feel certain that with more efforts, this activity can be made a model that inspires people everywhere.

Some people have sent in complaints about the misbehavior of some policemen and that they tend to behave in an unprofessional manner. On behalf of the department, please accept my apologies for all such incidents. I have given strict instructions to all my officers not to condone any such misconduct on the part of such police officials and to take appropriate action wherever required. I am sure that with adequate training and corrective action, such incidents could be brought to a minimum.

Schools all over the District are reopened for the new academic year, and with it the monsoons have also arrived. All of us have a duty to ensure that our school-going citizens are well taken care of, especially on their way to and from school. Parents need to take special care to see that the vehicles in which their children travel are safe and that the drivers drive carefully. Some auto rickshaws have a tendency to take on more students than are safe for transporting, especially during the rainy periods. Also, certain buses tend to ignore students waiting at bus-stops. Please let me know about any such incidents, I shall take appropriate action as needed. I feel that with adequate care on the part of parents as well as school authorities, our children could be ensured of a safe and hassle-free travel experience this season.

with best regards

Y. Anilkumar IPS
