20 Oct 2001 Dear friend, Thrissurpolice.com has completed five months of operation, and it has been my experience during this period that the project has been exceedingly well received by the concerned citizens of Thrissur, resident in Kerala as well as abroad. Indeed, just yesterday, I received a message from a Thrissur-ite based in the United States of America, who writes that he is extremely glad to see the effort that has gone into this website project. He states further that he would like us to ensure that the standard of the work is maintained even in the future, so that the citizens of Thrissur may enjoy the benefits of this project in future also. I welcome the views expressed by this concerned citizen of Thrissur, who continues to follow developments in his hometown, although he finds himself thousands of miles away in a different country. I invite all of you who have similar views on the subject to correspond with me through the website itself. It shall be my earnest effort to see that the work so far done continues at least at the same level, if not better. We shall be developing even more features over the next few weeks. Please keep yourself posted on these developments. The traffic problems of the district have been discussed widely in the press as well as through the website, these last few weeks. I have received several articles dealing with the subject from visitors to the site, and some of the more interesting ones can be viewed on the Bulletin Boards section of this website. Please do go through the same and respond to the views expressed therein. I shall be only too glad to hear your views on the matter, one that concerns each one of us. This week, the department was able to arrest the culprits in a murder in which the victims body was torched subsequently. The incident took place near Irinjalakuda. The police force led by Hentry Johnson, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Irinjalakuda, ably assisted by the Circle Inspector, N. Krishnankutty Pillai carried out the successful investigation. My congratulations to all the police officers concerned. One of the important festivals of India is Dussehra (or Navarathri), which is being celebrated all over the country this week. My best wishes to all of you for a safe and enjoyable festival season, and especially to my student friends, who will be enjoying a respite from their studies. Seasons greetings and best wishes, Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS. top |
