Dear friends,
Hope all of you have started the New Year in a happy mood. We of Thrissur Police on our part are going on with our efforts to increase the rapport between the Police and the public and to make people aware of a number of things by which they can avoid thefts, accidents etc.
In the series of useful booklets containing information tips for the public, the latest is on "Traffic." As usual we have not followed the trodden path but concentrated on things which, from our experience, will prove to be beneficial to the public at large. We hope that this will also prove to be of interest to the public.
Regarding traffic accidents the essential thing is "live and let live". Acknowledge the rights of the other road users. Understand and utilize the road signs and traffic signs. Avoid drunken driving and careless driving. Careless driving includes the recent fad of using the mobile phone while driving, knowing fully well that it is dangerous and is in utter disregard of the safely of the other road users. We have given strict instructions to our officers on the road to take very effective action against such ' pseudo - moderns '. A pity is that even motorcycle riders have started using mobile phones while riding. This is ridiculously suicidal.
I think it is for the women to get together and prevent such careless driving practices of their man. It is their own interest and that of their children that the earning member of the family is not incapacitated by possible accidents. In most cases their own lives also could be endangered. Therefore arise my sisters and join together in this fight. It is for your own good and welfare.
