03 August 2002

Dear Visitor,

Welcome back to www.thrissurpolice.com I hope most of you had a very peaceful and productive week, with no untoward incidents or unpleasant events. It is my experience that a little care and alertness goes a long way in preventing accidents and mishaps. However, there seems to be a prevalent tendency these days to ignore even basic safety precautions, probably due to a lack of awareness on the part of the public regarding such matters. It is my duty as your Superintendent of Police to remind you to take adequate care of yourself as well as your loved ones by being vigilant all the time. This effort would go a long way in reducing incidents of robbery and other petty crimes. It would also help the police to take care of bigger crimes by freeing our policemen from routine duties. I am sure that most of you would agree with me that the primary aim of the police should be to tackle problems of a serious nature that cannot be taken care of by the common citizen. I request all concerned members of society to cooperate with us in this matter, so that we can make our living environment safe and healthy for the future generations.

The festival season of Onam is just around the corner and reports of illicit inflows of liquor have been received from different areas. The Thrissur Police is keeping itself alert and ready to deal with all such reports as they come in. May I remind all law-abiding citizens of Thrissur that such unlawful and dangerous activities can be effectively checked only with your co-operation. I call upon each one of you to help us in tackling this serious issue so as to make this Festival season joyful and free of unpleasantness. Please do let us know whenever there are suspicious movements of vehicles or individuals in your neighbourhood. I shall take quick and effective remedial action.

Our student friends are faced with the prospect of their school examinations in the near future. I hope they are well prepared to face their exams with confidence, with earnest and sincere preparation. I wish all of them luck for the examinations and for a well deserved break from school afterwards.

Please do keep sending me your messages and suggestions. I look forward to hearing from you.

With regards,

G. Janardhanan Nair IPS

Independence Day Message

Dear friend,

My sincere greetings on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of Independence.

The restructuring of the Thrissur Police website is underway now and is nearing completion. You can expect an announcement regarding the first anniversary of the website any day now.

You must also be hearing about the renovation of the police force itself now being carried out in earnest. We have acquired a large fleet of new vehicles in recent months. We have also received an Ambulance vehicle, a brand new Mobile Laboratory, and an Accident Recovery vehicle.

A new concept in highway traffic regulation has been introduced with the inauguration of a special Highway Police Squad by the Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala. This measure has been adopted to make our highways safer for road traffic and to ensure smooth flow of vehicles on the roads. The highways have been divided into more than twenty sectors. The Highway Police have been equipped with new Qualis vehicles and also specially designed uniforms, which will be visible from afar. These Squads will be on the roads twenty-four hours a day, patrolling each sector. I earnestly request the co-operation of all citizens with the new arrangements, thereby ensuring that your journeys along the highways are a pleasant experience always.

Once again I extend my greetings to all on the anniversary of our independence. God bless.

G. Janardhanan Nair IPS
