11 Aug 2001 Dear friend, I am glad to inform you that thrissurpolice.com your personal hotline to the police organization has now been in existence for three months. In this period, we have had nearly one and a half lakh visitors to this site, making it easily the most popular police website ever. I have been receiving messages from all over the world, from the Gulf countries as well as from the rest of India. It makes me glad to know that we of the Thrissur police have been able to successfully implement a project that is clearly useful to many of you. This gives us the confidence that the additions that we have incorporated into the website would make it even more interesting and useful. This week we conducted a Petition Adalat in Thrissur west police station for the people who belong to Thrissur Taluk. The main intention of such programs is to solve the petitions Taluk-wise that already submitted to SP, in the presence of both petitioner and counter petitioner. We were able to solve around thirty-five petitions out of fifty. Next, we are doing it for Mukundapuram Taluk on August 22, 2001. So, please send in your petitions to the SP by Post or in person at the earliest. The information regarding this program will be available either through the Newspapers or through this site soon. The additions we have contemplated are the following: From next week onwards, we shall be including several discussion forums in the form of bulletin boards, wherein each of you can send in your views regarding specific issues of interest to you and the police. There will be special categories for senior citizens, women, students, and the general public. What is more, we are also putting in a bulletin board for policemen, past and present, to air their views and express themselves on the topics of discussion. Please do make use of these facilities to communicate with me. Articles sent to me using the facility can be viewed by visiting the Bulletin Board section on the site. There are some misconceptions regarding the website that I wish to clear with you. Let me assure you that all complaints received are being recorded and immediate action is being taken as required. Also, there seems to be a feeling that confidentiality may be lost when one communicates with me using the website. This is not true, and strict confidentiality is being ensured regarding all complaints received. What is more, there seems to be an increased awareness among the public about the possibilities of IT in addressing a widely felt need in terms of e-governance. I am glad that we at the Thrissur police have been able to stay in touch with our citizens aspirations and keep up with the latest developments in communication technology. Your responses and feedback are ample evidence of this. I would like to take your attention towards the illegal transportation of spirit, liquor etc. through the District especially during the festival seasons. If you have any information about such illegal transportation or trading or any such business please contact me as the earliest in the following telephone numbers. + 91 - 487 - 361000 - SP Office, Thrissur. + 91 - 487 - 361600 SPs residence. or fax + 91 - 487 - 361000 Please continue sending me your comments and views regarding matters relevant to our objectives. 18 Aug 2001 Dear friend, Welcome once again to thrissurpolice.com. Thank you for your co-operation. Our intention is to send replies to all those who send us suggestions, feedbacks and complaints. Please excuse us if you are not received one yet, but as I mentioned earlier we are giving necessary importance to all the mails that we are receiving. Kerala is famous for its festivals through out the year especially Thrissur, the cultural capital of the State. I personally feel that the people here are more sensitive towards these festivals. Now, we are making ourself ready to welcome the most popular festival of Kerala, The Onam. But on the other hand, during these festival seasons a lot of illicit liquor is flowing in the District. Last week the police raided ten bars in the City to prevent the sale of illicit liquor during Onam season. In a raid that we conducted on August 14th, we were able to catch seventy bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from Mala and seven hundred bottles of seconds liquor from Irinjalakuda. In another raid conducted through out the District the police arrested thirty-five persons and registered thirty-eight cases. Five hundred liters of arrack, eighty liters of IMFL and one thousand liters of wash were destroyed. I would like to remind you that, if you have any information about the illegal transportation or trading or any such business please contact me at the earliest. Let me remind you that it is the aim of this website, to reduce the communication gap between the department and the public. I feel that the young generation has to be more interactive with us, mainly school and college students. The backbone of our society is dedicated youths. This website is a platform for them to clarify their doubts by interacting with police officials and will help you to move forward to build a better society. We invite your articles on any issue through this website and happy to announce that to give special attention we are introducing a new section for students. The interesting articles will be published on the bulletin board. We are conducting a Petition Adalat for Mukundapuram Taluk on August 22, 2001. So, please send in your petitions to the District SP by Post or in person or through this website at the earliest. The information regarding this adalat will be available either through the Newspapers or through this site (click here for details). Please continue sending me your comments and views regarding matters relevant to our objectives. Regards, Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS . |

25 Aug 2001 Dear friend, Happy Onam and seasons greetings to each one of you. This week, Thrissur district witnessed hectic police activity in destroying spurious liquor. However, we were able to successfully curtail such anti-social activities to a large extent, thanks to the cooperation of the watchful citizens of Thrissur. I welcome all such assistance to the police force in the interests of a trouble-free society and I thank all of you for your aid. I held a "Petition Adalat" at Mukundapuram on 22 Aug 2001, at which over forty petitions received directly by me were disposed of. I am happy to share with you the information that more than 80% of the petitions were settled on the spot. The response to these "adalats" from the public is quite encouraging, and I hope that this innovation would motivate more and more people to participate in the settling of disputes locally, in their own interests. The next Petition Adalat will be held at Chavakkad on 13th September 2001. I invite anyone of you that has a grievance or problem to approach me through this website, or by sending me your petition by post. I shall look into the matter on a priority basis. (click here for details). The police were able to seize explosives from several points in the district, such as Athani, Kodali, and Ponganamkadu, based on information received by the DIG of Police Sri Sankar Reddy. The raids were supervised by myself and I am happy to report that they were quite successful. Several police officials ably assisted me in this task. I am happy to announce that this website has been appreciated by the Hon. Chief Minister of Kerala himself, and that he has agreed to officially commission the site at a function on Sunday, 26 August 2001. As you know, the CM is very interested in IT-related activities, and his interest in our website is quite heartening. Also, this week, we are launching a set of bulletin boards that are intended to serve as a discussion forum on specific topics of current interest. Separate bulletin boards have been set up for senior citizens, students, women and so on. I invite each one of you to take advantage of this facility to air your views on the topics under discussion. The articles received can be viewed by everyone on the respective bulletin boards on the website. One final point: we are in all to sweep out gunda activities in the district. I have instructed my subordinate officers to keep a vigilant eye at sensitive points. We already introduced five-check point such as Vettilappara, Pattikad, Perumbilavu, Cheruthuruthy and Kottappuram (Kodungalloor) in order to keep a check on illicit arrack and wash that is flowing in and out of the District. I also request alert citizens to send me information quickly as soon as trouble of any sort develops. With all best wishes for the arrival of Mahabali, the special visitor in all our houses at Onam, I am Balram Kumar Upadyay IPS. top |
