Dear friends,

Most of the examinations are over and children and parents have been relieved of the tension. Though some of them will not allow their children to release and enjoy the beauty of nature most of them do manage to enjoy their vacations.
We of Thrissur District Police would also like to provide some fun for the children like Painting competition with a difference, and other such activities. Please wait for our announcement and keep watching our website.
We have temporarily stopped our "Nammmude Police Namukkuv Vendi" programme due to reasons connected with elections. Rest assured that we would restart the programme after the elections, in full force.
Last week there were three separate incidents of murder. Two were political murders and we know the persons involved. However other incident of murder was for gain, i.e. for committing theft as far as the preliminary indications go. This particular incident took place in Mala. One middle aged lady and her daughter in law were murdered in the early morning and her other daughter in law and her two children were inflicted with serious injury. The injured victims are still in hospital. We of Thrissur Police on the whole got involved in the investigation of this case. How ever our dog squad, scientific assistants and fingerprint experts have not been able to unearth any clue to get the identity of the accused. Our superior officers including the DGP of Kerala visited the site and expressed satisfaction in our investigation. How ever it is unfortunate that we have not been able to identify and apprehend the persons responsible, thus far. We assure the entire citizen that such dastardly acts will not escape detection for long and we will not leave any stone unturned in this connection.
The Thrissur Pooram (on 30-04.2004) and election to the Loksabha (on 10-05-2004) are fast approaching and we are already finalizing our preparations for the same. We will do all things within our power to make these two events to be held smoothly, efficiently, and without any hindrance. I sincerely hope that all citizens of this district will cooperate with us in our endeavor.

Dear friends,

Welcome once again. Vishu is almost on us and celebrations are on. Nada is opened at Sabarimala and Guruvayoor is spring up for the festival.
The holy week of the Christians is over now with Easter. Even though the celebrations are not as elaborate as other nations we also celebrate Easter with all pomp and glory fitting to the occasion.
My only sincere wish is that people should be allowed to carry on their festivities to their satisfaction. There must not be any division or anger based on religious matters. As our learned sages of all religious following have told us again and again that no religion tell us to be enemies to each other based on religion.
Even in spite of the heat of elections we have been able to celebrate the festivals almost peacefully.
My request to my fellow citizens is that they desist from driving vehicles under the influence of alcohol. Be considerate to the other users of the road who had the unfortunate fate to come across you on highways. Think of their family their children and other who depend on them. Think of your family also. You may have seen from the fate of our young friends who came back from 'Vega land' in an intoxicated state and ended up under a heavy lorry. Three of them lost their lives. The very next day the inebriated driving of an auto-rickshaw driver was the reason for the unfortunate demise of two young women who were going to Malayattoor on pilgrimage with their friends and relatives.
If this kind of accident does not open our eyes and heart what will? Please do not drive when under the influence of alcohol. If all of you consume alcohol use a public conveyance to get another driver to get you home.
Anyhow we are not proposing to leave it like that we propose to be very strict with drunken driving. I entreat our fellow travelers to be patient with our policemen checking vehicles. Please bear in mind that we are doing this just to ensure your safe journey. Cooperate with us cheerfully.
There have been a number of thefts attended with violence lately. We are at it and taking all efforts to detect the cases. As I have stated on earlier occasions also the citizens can give us many useful clues and information to help us in our effort. Please cooperate with us. I assure you that within a short time we will be able to nab the culprits and relive you all of your anxiety.
Thank you and wish you a 'Happy Easter' and 'Happy Vishu'.

Dear Friends,

The 'Thrissur Pooram' is almost on us. All concerned including the Police Dept. are gearing up to making perfect arrangements for providing a trample free hassle free 'Pooram' for the people. We want all of you to have a nice time.
It must be remembered that all people have a right to observe and enjoy the 'Pooram' without any trouble. Therefore it is the duty of the citizens especially those of Thrissur district to see that all the people visiting are welcomed with open hands and provided all the facility for enjoyment. Any obstruction or trouble should be reported to police and we assure you that immediate action will be taken.
There will be a certain amount of traffic obstructions due to the 'Pandhals' being constructed at the junctions. But they add to the grandeur of the 'Pooram' in general and let us make the most of the facilities and bear with such inconveniences on the broader perspective of the 'Pooram' facilities.
A special word of caution regarding the fireworks!. My self and the District Collector are striving to do our maximum to ensure that the fire works display goes on without any trouble. For this the co-operation of the general public is highly essential. Please see that the public do not enter the danger areas once the preparation of the fireworks start. Please bear with us and heed all the directions of the police in this connection and obey them to the letter. Please understand that it is for your own safety. I fully understand the enthusiasm of the citizens but safety first; please.
So also please be kind to the elephants. They are taking all these sufferings for your enjoyment. So please don't provoke them into making trouble. Here also we take all efforts to avoid any untoward incident. We get all the elephants examined medically and obtain certificates and also keep a team of experts to meet any eventuality. Only elephants in good health are allowed to take part in the festivities.
We have taken all possible preparations and your co-operation is the only other ingredient to make the ' Thrissur Pooram 2004' a grand success.
The elections are also round the corner. We have already completed all our arrangements for a trouble free election. Co-operation from all you is expected. More about this later.
I welcome all of you to the 'Pooram' ground and the Thrissur Police wish you the Very Best and Happy Pooram viewing.
